A due date in a task list can disappear as soon as you leave the app. A Live Activity keeps one changing piece of information available on the iPhone Lock Screen and, on supported devices, in the Dynamic Island. For deadline work, that can be the remaining time for the mission you need to finish next.
This is different from using a Live Activity as a source of pressure. The countdown is useful only when it helps you make a concrete decision while there is still time to act.
When a deadline countdown is useful
Use a Live Activity for a task that is already active and has an exact due time: a report you need to submit today, a client delivery, an application, or a study milestone. It is less useful for a vague project with no immediate next action. Break a large project into a smaller mission first.
Set up the mission in Kotomit
- Create a mission with a specific title and deadline.
- Make the title describe an action or deliverable, such as “Send first draft to client.”
- Enable Live Activity in Kotomit Settings.
- Keep the mission active while it is the work that needs your attention.
Kotomit can show the active mission's deadline countdown on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. The display gives you a quick view of the time remaining without reopening the task list.
Decide what the countdown means
Each time you notice the countdown, choose one response:
- Start a five-minute first step now
- Protect a work block before the remaining time becomes too short
- Reduce the deliverable to an essential version
- Ask for clarification or renegotiate the deadline early
A countdown by itself does not prioritize work. It becomes useful when it prompts one of these decisions. If you have several deadlines, use remaining time to choose the next task before keeping one mission in view.
Use notifications and Live Activities for different jobs
Notifications interrupt you at a specific moment. Live Activities provide a visible status between those moments. Use a start reminder when you need an interruption, and use a Live Activity when the deadline needs to remain present while you move through the day.

Keep private information out of view
Lock Screen content can be seen by people near your phone. Use a neutral title for sensitive client, school, or personal tasks. A visible countdown should make the deadline clear without exposing information you would not want displayed.
Review the result after time runs out
If a mission times out, Kotomit lets you record the reason. Was the work bigger than expected? Was the first step unclear? Did another commitment take priority? Record the reason and use it to set an earlier or more realistic deadline next time.
Live Activities make the active deadline visible; the timeout review helps you improve the next one. Together, they create a loop of seeing the time, acting earlier, and learning from the outcome.
